Red Meat...Oh Happy Day!

As you can tell by the title, something glorious happened this week....I had red meat!!! Beautiful lamb :) I'm sure this sounds exaggerated but I haven't had red meat since being here (which makes me extra glad I chose to have steak on my last night at home) and my body fairly sang for joy!

We are in week 9 with only 3 1/2 weeks left till outreach. WHAT!!! Where did the time go?? I can't believe how quickly we have gotten to this point. This last week I was really hit with the challenge of community living - nothing big, just the general annoyances that come from living with 18 other people ALL the TIME. But on the whole I am actually amazed at how much God has blessed our community and most people work really hard to get along with everyone. I think I'm actually going to miss it when I leave! Sniff. Ok, now I'm getting ahead of myself...
But in regards to outreach, we still don't really have a plan. We are now spending the first two weeks in another country, participating in an evangelism event, and then we move on to Greece...but beyond that we know nothing! It's a really exciting time as we wait on God to reveal His plans to us - knowing His 'sense of humour' I am fully expecting that He won't do that until we actually get there! Please keep the Greece Team in your prayers; we want to be really open to whatever God asks of us.

Our class had Wacky Wednesday - boutique style!

I should have done this a long time ago but...I thought I'd give you an idea of what our week looks like!
Monday:
Breakfast - 6.45 am!
Triplet Reading - we are now reading 'Generous Justice' by Timothy Keller; we read aloud and then discuss
School Worship
Class/Lecture - with a much needed break at 10:30; haha, our class gets so grumpy if the speaker over - a lot of people here are reliant on their coffee!
Lunch - I think I mentioned this but lunch is the 'big' meal here
Free afternoon!
Amtli - amtli is YWAM Wiler Swiss-German slang for 'work duty'. Mine is laundry so I work from 4-6 every afternoon on this
Dinner
Discipleship class

Tuesday:
Breakfast
Base Worship
Class
Lunch - Tuesday is dessert day; everyone gets so excited!
Reading group - we split into bigger groups and discuss what we've been learning from our book
Outreach preparation - we spend 2 hours doing outreach prep, which so far has consisted of lots and lots of prayer and not much planning!
Amtli
Dinner
Sports night - this is voluntary...which means only, like, 5 people turn up! I try and be a good sport (Haha, I'm keeping the pun-spirit alive Mum!) and go but I really dislike balls and running and team games and, well, everything they do!

Wednesday:
Breakfast
Devotions - for this we walk to a church a 1/2 hour away and two class members present a devotion on one of YWAM's 17 values; mine is on "Trusting God in Finances"
Class (it's always much easier to stay awake in class on Wednesdays after that walk!)
Lunch
Local outreach/free afternoon - everyone has a local outreach they are involved in. I go to a local family and spend a few hours cleaning their house; the mum has severe eye problems and finds it really hard to clean. I really enjoy this, the family is so lovely. I do this every fortnight so on the off weeks I have a free arvo
Amtli
Dinner
Free evening

Thursday (prayer day!):
Breakfast
Base intercession - someone presents a topic/s and we spend an hour in prayer; Joey and I were in charge of the first one so we prayed for Australia!
Class
Lunch - Soup Day; instead of a big meal, we eat soup and send the saved money to a mission in Morocco. After lunch we spend time in prayer for that mission.
Free afternoon
Amtli
Dinner
Intercession in Bern/Biel - the class splits and alternates between the 2 cities. Most often we go on a prayer walk around the city, but sometimes we have something specific to pray for.

Friday:
Breakfast
Class/memory verse - yep, going back to Sunday school days! It's amazing how stressful a bunch of adults finds it to memorise a few verses each week! Oh, the stress of misquoting the bible while in a missions training school!
Reflection time - writing in our weekly school journal about the past week of teaching
'Formal' lunch - we split into small groups and have lunch together (Friday is fish day...a lot of people go hungry on just salad!). We discuss the past week and what we've learnt
One-on-one - this is the time that I meet with my mentor
Class - during this class time we have 2 people present some world new to us; it's very easy to stay in our YWAM bubble otherwise! Then 3 people give their 'World changer presentation'. We all had to read and write a report on the biography of a 'world changer' and then present it to the class. I did mine on Australian Dr. Catherine Hamiln.
Amtli
Dinner
Free evening/cafe night - one of the staff here is training to be a barista so every fortnight we have a cafe night and someone from the school makes a supper native to his/her country.

Weekends are all ours! We are expected to go to church but other than that we can do what we like. Mostly that involves doing all the things I didn't manage to get done during the week! Although it looks like we have lots of 'free' spots, they fill up very quickly with 'stuff'. The worst is when you go into the snackbar to do your homework, end up chatting to someone and an hour later still haven't written a word! Every week we have an assignment that is due Saturday midday.

So that is my week!! Things may change slightly week-to-week but on the whole the schedule stays the same. For example, this Thursday morning we are going to a sitting of the Swiss parliament in Bern. I was looking forward to it till I found out we have to catch the 6:14am bus to get there!

Thank you so much to everyone who is keeping in contact, I love hearing about what is going on in Oz (haha, we taught the American's that today; they're having trouble differentiating between the Wizard of Oz!) , your seemingly boring life is so interesting to me! Until next time :)
